2012 was the year that Tena Tena Camp “moved house”. The bush camp in the South Luangwa Valley, Zambia was relocated just a kilometre or so upstream from its original site. Its new position is on the meandering Luangwa River and under a beautiful, thick mahogany grove.
Since our Classic’s blog on the subject of this camp’s relocation last year, Tena Tena has become completely one with its new surroundings and is an absolute African wilderness dream site. Guests have been able to immerse themselves in the Zambian bush and be part of the untouched wilderness that surrounds them there. It’s as close to nature as a bush camp can be.
If you’ve been wondering how TenaTena is looking in its new surroundings, watch their video on YouTube. It will give you a good idea of what a stay at the camp would be like. The website’s online gallery has been updated with many awe-inspiring images showing off Tena Tena’s character, location and magic too.
To give you a taste, here are a few of our favourite new images from the relocated Tena Tena:
This gorgeous tented camp is intimate and unpretentious with all the comforts still attached. Tena Tena comprises of just 5 tents including a honeymoon tent and is able to host 10 guests at a time in total. Each luxury tent comes complete with veranda and en-suite bathroom.
Animals of all shapes and sizes come to drink from the numerous natural lagoons set about the area and a pod of hippos are residents in the area. It’s not uncommon for guests to be spoilt to a parade of thirsty African creatures before their very eyes while they enjoy their own sundowners or a meal near the edge of the river. Activities on offer at Tena Tena, include day and night game drives, cultural visits to the Kawaza Village and walking safaris.
