Our custom life-size rhino has proudly been displayed in The Grand Daddy for the good part of a year and has become one of our hotel’s most treasured attractions.
This beautiful work of art was hand-painted by renowned Capetonian artist Nasser Zahdeh as part of ‘The Rhino’s Are Coming’ exhibition. We proudly sponsored this spectacular artwork and creation and Mofalodi has also been on display all over Cape Town including the V&A Waterfront, CTICC, Green Point Stadium and OR Tambo International Airport! All proceeds from the exhibition have gone directly towards raising funds and spreading awareness to fight rhino poaching and help save our endangered rhino population.
Nasser Zadeh’s Mofalodi artwork depicts proudly African design and colours, Capetonian scenes, animal prints, and a show-stopping golden horn. The heartbreaking reality of the ever-present poaching threat is painted in the reflection of Mofalodi’s eye.
Recently, Grand Daddy Hotel General Manager – Sean O’Brien – packed up his family as well as Mofalodi and embarked on an epic road trip all the way from Cape Town to Madikwe where our special rhino’s forever home will now be at Jaci’s Lodges in the magical Madikwe Game Reserve. Mofalodi arrived just in time for the World Rhino Day festivities and has taken center stage in the main lodge at Jaci’s Safari Lodge, all the way from Cape Town!
