August 2nd was a very special day for us at Musango because we celebrated our 25th anniversary!
Can you believe it? This month, 25 years ago, we welcomed our very first guests to the island. Throughout the years, our wonderful guests have played an integral part in our journey and we strive to treat every guest as if they were our first. That’s why we get so excited when we receive reviews from our guests telling us just how much they enjoyed their time with us.
When recent guests were only able to spend a day with us, we were determined to help them make the most of their stay and strived to make every moment special. This is the lovely TripAdvisor review that they left us after their trip:
“We were treated by very special friends to 24 hours at Musango Safari Camp. Steve and Wendy are excellent hosts and are incredibly knowledgeable about the African bush. The camp is very comfortable, in a beautiful setting and it is truly a heavenly place to visit. The food is honest and delicious and enjoyed with some amazing views of the lake. However, the stand out part of our stay was Steve’s vast knowledge of the flora and fauna. He is also a world authority on fossils, so be sure to ask him about them and you will be able to see some very good examples. We spent some time fishing, and even for those who don’t love it, it was really enjoyable. Plenty of crocodiles and hippos, cold drinks and beautiful birds. The world needs people like Wendy and Steve and their fine team to keep places like Musango going so as to protect the very fragile environment they live in. If these places are not used, we will lose them and so will we lose the animals that live in these areas as they are under extreme pressure from unscrupulous humans. Absolutely five-star excellence for Musango and do visit them – it is a real privilege to visit.”
–TripAdvisor Review from Guest
In addition to leaving great reviews and making us smile, guests are also given the opportunity to make a difference to the local community. Through the Pack for a Purpose initiative, guests are encouraged to bring stationery, as well as unused glasses, which are then distributed among the community. This is just one of the ways that Musango and our guests contribute towards sustainable tourism.
