On 30th October 2017, Anvil Bay celebrated its official opening by Mozambique’s Minister of Culture and Tourism.
Minister Silva Dunduro said that the resort’s substantial community participation component was a first for Mozambique and a sign of fulfillment of the Government’s objectives of making tourism an activity of social inclusion and allowing the participation of local communities in the country’s development.
Reported in a press release by INATUR, Anvil Bay is an establishment classified in the category of eco-lodge, located in the District of Matutuine – Maputo Province, Administrative Post of Machangulo. This lodging unit has 4 stars, is located within the Special Reserve of Maputo and Ponta de Ouro, 95% of its workers are local communities, by the way, holding 40% of the share capital.
