Are you looking for a true adventure safari in Kenya, that allows you to learn and act on some of the conservation issues that face wildlife in the region? Next March, Lewa Wilderness is offering just such an opportunity.
Lewa Wilderness is proud to be involved in the 2019 conservation safari, allowing guests not only exclusive access to the Lewa-Borana Game Count but also meeting and learning from experts in their field to learn more about their struggle to protect elephant, rhino, and other endangered animals.
The conservation safari, which is being organised in March 2019 by The Safari & Conservation Company, is in response to demand from guests from across the world who are looking to do more than just ‘go on holiday’, but instead learn and act on the problems that are facing wildlife in the area.
The itinerary has been arranged and organised by The Safari & Conservation Company, and the safari will be led and guided by Kip Ole Polos, one of Kenya’s most respected authorities on the local area and an Il Ngwesi Community Elder. Guided by Kip, guests will visit his home and his lands, as well as meet other conservationist working to promote peace and stability to landscapes and wildlife in Kenya.
The schedule is jam-packed with activities over the 15 days and some of the highlights of this conservation safari include visiting the Giraffe Centre to learn about the problems related to the decline of wild giraffe across Africa, enjoying lunch in the exclusive neighbourhood of Karen, where the famous writer ‘Karen Blixen’ lived, as well as a visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to meet orphaned elephants who have lost their family and herd to the effects of human-wildlife conflict and poaching.
The safari involves staying at a few different lodges, and while at Lewa Wilderness, guests will have the chance to visit the Elephant Underpass and meet the local village chief to discuss how the local population is living with wildlife, and visit the Operations Room at HQ of Lewa, and meet the Tracker Dogs. They will also have exclusive access to the Lewa Game Count on Tuesday 5th March.
