Green Season at Mkulumadzi

Green Season at Mkulumadzi

The arrival of the rains at Mkulumadzi has brought the area to life, with beautiful lush green hues and pops of colour in the form of wild bush flowers.

It is a sight for sore eyes and a photographers haven as the vibrant colours, dramatic skies, and lack of dust, mean great photo opportunities.

While many avoid safaris in the green season, we feel this is certainly an underrated time of year and Mkulumadzi Lodge has been having regular sightings of elephants, zebras, giraffes not to mention a wide range of antelope.

It’s not only the vegetation that is rejuvenated this time of year. There has been a baby boom amongst most of the herbivores and as a result, we are seeing many baby warthogs, impalas, elephant calves and although the predator sightings are scarce, we have no doubt that they are also part of this.

This was not always the case and there was a time where Majete Wildlife Reserve had practically no animal life. Through the tireless efforts of African Parks, years were spent rehabilitating this area to what it is today. To shed light on this, we are offering a new package in March called Focus on Conservation which gives people more insight into the work African Parks does along with Robin Pope Safaris to ensure the continuity and success of such protected areas.
