Jaci’s Safari Lodge is absolutely thrilled to announce that 3 brand new Anti-Poaching Unit vehicles have recently been handed over to the North West Parks Board for immediate deployment!
“This is only one of many projects by Madikwe Futures Company to help and assist the North West Parks Board, in the war against rhino poaching as well as keeping Madikwe and everyone in it safe. We trust that the deployment of these vehicles, as well as the 4X4 off-road driving course that was recently completed by the rangers, will have a positive impact on our daily Anti-Poaching Operations.” Says Derick Burger of Madikwe Game Reserve.
It is important to note that the funds used to purchase these vehicles as well as subsidize other anti-poaching initiatives in the Madikwe Game Reserve, are generated by our Madikwe Guest Conservation Contribution, which each guest at Jaci’s Safari Lodge contributes to during their stay with us.
The plight of the African rhinoceros is a serious one. Illegal poaching of rhinos for their horn has resulted in the massacre of thousands over the past few years. At Jaci’s Lodges we’re taking a stand to help conserve the rhino. We’ve teamed up with a proactive anti-rhino-poaching organisation, www.stoprhinopoaching.com, and have attached prominent stickers to all our game-drive vehicles to draw attention to the poaching problem. We assist the North West Parks and Tourism Board in various anti-poaching activities, from increased foot patrols and guard visibility on the ground to driving awareness campaigns among guests staying at lodges in Madikwe Game Reserve.
