Changa Safari Camp has had some prized sightings recently, including one of our “resident” lion pride, which is looking really healthy, well-fed and relaxed.
There are reported to be up to 30 lions in the Matusadona National Park – and Changa falls within the territory of the so-called Eastern Pride and the Kanjeza Pride. The Eastern Pride is a fierce group of exceptionally efficient hunters who have made headlines in the past few years for taking down prey as large as elephants and hippos as well as crocodile.
Around camp and along the lakeshore, the elephant and buffalo herds have been incredible, too. One herd of elephants was up to 50-strong. As someone once said in the throes of bush bliss, “It’s not often in life, unless you happen to lead an extraordinarily adventurous one, that you get to share a sundowner with a family of elephants.” And the sundowners are famous at Changa because we believe there is no better sunset than on Kariba – whether you’re on the floodplain looking out over its vast expanse or floating on a boat, gin and tonic in one hand, and a fishing rod in the other.
We are also particularly pleased to announce that we recently received accolades in the Safari Awards 2019 for Best Property Design, Best Cuisine, Best Family Safari Experience, Best Value, and Best Ecological Responsibility.
