One of our most rewarding activities at Jaci’s Safari Lodge is to take our sightings lists received from the guides and tabulate our monthly sightings infographics.
Our passionate guides do hundreds of guest drives over a period of a month and we are always rewarded with encouraging and bountiful results.
September saw some amazing once-in-a-lifetime sightings including pangolin, aardwolf and brown hyena! The traditional Big Five was regularly recorded on drives and our very own Jaci’s Madikwe Top 10 also enjoyed some really great percentages in September. The Jaci’s Madikwe Top 10 includes the famous Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, (black and white) rhino and buffalo as well as cheetah, (spotted and brown) hyena, hippo, giraffe and of course African wild dog.
Our “resident” lodge waterhole crocodile moved in as a tiny little thing and has grown up superbly, even taking down an impala right at the Terrapin Hide! He/she was spotted on 94% of our September drives and is a favourite among guests and guides alike.
