The summer rains have come and gone at Pumulani and we’re now enjoying endless sunny days with a slight drop of temperature, the only real difference between summer and winter in Malawi.
With the change of season we are getting busier with guests, most of whom have visited one of our sister lodges (Mkulumadzi or Kuthengo) or one of the Zambian Lodges. The guests are full of stories about their great safari adventure, and they have now arrived on the sandy shores of Lake Malawi.
Guests set their own pace here at Pumulani with a number of activities on offer. One of our most popular activities here at Pumulani is our sunset dhow trip.
We normally set sail just after 4.30 and take a slow cruise around the neighbouring bay that is home to many local fisherman. As the sun starts to drop, that is Piliranis’ cue to get the drinks and snacks flowing in time for the sunset finale! Ganizani the skipper then turns off the engine and lets the dhow get carried away by the waves of Lake Malawi. Before you know it, the huge orange ball in the sky disappears behind the mountain range, signaling the end of yet another day in paradise.
