This year has been incredibly busy and has seen some big changes at Fugitives’ Drift.
In April, Andrew and Anel Rattray and their three little girls left Fugitives’ Drift and moved across to the Western Cape to start up our new hotel, Fairview House, in Plettenberg Bay. After extensive renovations, we hope that the hotel will be open to guests from early 2020.
We are also incredibly proud and pleased to announce that Douglas Rattray, son of the late David Rattray, will be doing his first UK tour in June this year. Tickets sold out for the event that we are hosting at Chelsea Town Hall (London) in a matter of weeks; Doug will also be giving a talk at the UK Chamber of Commerce in London, and as an invited guest at Chalke Valley History Festival, in Wiltshire.
Highlighting the courage of desperate soldiers at war, and the gallantry of proud warriors, Doug will be explaining the battle of Isandlwana from both sides: English and Zulu. He will testify to his knowledge, passion and wonderful storytelling abilities, bringing the events of the 22nd January 1879 to life. We are thrilled that his first tour has been met with such interest, and hope to do a follow-up tour next year.
